Actually, our job is to improve people’s quality of life. In other words, it is to make people look at their lives more positively and happily. Because the job of plastic and reconstructive surgeons is to reconstruct a body part that disrupts integrity and causes loss of function, or to normalize an abnormal body part that disrupts harmony. Making someone look younger than their age is our modest job.
As you all know, with the increase in human life expectancy and socio-economic conditions worldwide, there has been a strong desire among people to stay young, rejuvenate, or look more beautiful. People started to spend more time, effort, and money on their physical appearance, which also led to the emergence of a huge industry. Yes, the desire for trade and making money has always existed wherever humans are, but I think in this sector where the material is human, as a society, we have lost control a bit, and the aesthetic sector has become unnecessarily commercialized.
